DAY TOURNAMENTS
1
June 2010 The season ended with three SIVA teams competing
over Memorial weekend. SIVA 17 competed in
Washington Volleyball Academy's Emerald City Classic at the
University of Washington. They started on Saturday on court
2 in the Hec-Ed Center playing on the same floor as the Huskies.
After the completion of day 1, SIVA 17 remained in the hunt
for Gold and returned to court 1 in the Hec-Ed. Leaving it all
on the floor, the ladies of SIVA 17 fell short of Gold and was
sent to the IMA building on Sunday to fight for Silver. When
the dust finally settled on Sunday, SIVA 17 finished 13th out
of 32 teams and played well.
SIVA 14 and
SIVA 15 ended their season competing in the Northwest Juniors
Memorial Classic. SIVA 14 took third off their
net during the first round and rebounded to take first during
the second round, giving them a first round bye in the Bronze
division. Fighting hard, the girls placed 5th in Bronze and
29th out of 42 teams.
SIVA
15 began the weekend seeded 14th out of the 42 teams
competing for supremecy. Working together, SIVA 15s went near
perfect this weekend winning 18 of 19 sets, and all nine of
their matches. Their effort and hard work was rewarded with
a 1st place finish in the Gold division.

KIANA CALLES
SELECTED AS CO-TOP PERFORMER DURING PUGET SOUND REGION HIGH
PERFORMACE TRY-OUTS

and Island County was well represented with six players attempting
to make the annual Puget Sound Region High Performance Camps.
Tryouts began on Saturday with 70+ Youth girls (born in 1994
or 1995)vying for 32 spots at the 11-13 July 2010 camp. On Sunday,
over 90 girls competed for 32 spots in the PSR Select (born
1996 or later) camp to be held from 20-22 July 2010. Our region
qualified two girls for the Select Camp and Kiana Calles was
selected at CO-Top Performer during the Select Camp. For her
efforts, she will be moving up to the Select Camp to learn with
the older girls, and will be sent to the Olympic Training Center
in Colorado Springs, CO to attend USA Volleyball's A2 Camp from
26-30 July. (Note: Names of the players that made the Select
Camp will be announced once they are notified)
NOTEABLES
Former SIVA
player, Tyler Calles has accepted an offer
to soar high with the Eagles of Eastern Washington University
during the fall of 2010, were she will join LaConner Volleyball
star and Eastern Sophmore, Cora "The Hammer"
Kellerman. -- Congratulations to Shelly Dowrey,
who is going to pursue her dreams at Washington State University.
