1. What is
Junior Olympic (JOs) Volleyball?
Junior Olympic
volleyball is congruent to SELECT Soccer or AAU Sports. It is
the grassroots branch of USA Volleyball which provides an opportunity
for players all over the country to participate and excel in
the sport of volleyball.
2. How long
does the season last?
The length of the
season runs from 19 November 2007 - 31 May 2008. There is opportunities
to extend the season through the months of June/July, but it
is dependent on your child's team performance, and the agreement
of the players and parents.
3. What is
the purpose for attending two National Qualification tournaments
(Pacific Northwest Qualifiers and Far Western Qualifiers)?
Attending the National
Qualification tournaments exposes players to some of the highest-level
top-calibur players/teams from around the nation. These events
are attended by numerous college coaches or their recruiting
staff, and gives them an opportunity to see the players in action.
Note: Island Fire
Volleyball was the only club within Skagit/Island County that
attended PNQ (17 OPEN) which resulted in players receiving letters
of interest from colleges outside of Washington.
4. How often
are practices?
Each team will
practice at least 2 times during the week.
5. What is
the policy in regards to the PSR Letter of Commitment?
In accordance with
the Puget Sound Manual, each player may only have ONE Letter
of Commitment signed at a a time. A previously signed letter
must be voided within 72 hours of decision before new letter
can be signed. (See PSR Letter of Commitment for more guidance.
6. What if
I don't pay my balance on time?
We realize Juniors
volleyball can be expensive; that is why we are staggering payments,
and will work with everyone to ensure that your child has an
opportunity to pursue their desire to play volleyball. We will
be looking for methods to conduct fundraising events to help
with club cost, travel, and lodging.
